National Safety Month

The evolution of eMOD

June is National Safety Month.  This month we wanted to highlight the evolution of eMOD and how it promotes safety, accountability and creates transparency for all.  Jobsite safety is our number one priority!

Evolution

What would you do if OSHA came to your jobsite today? Are you confident all your projects are 100% compliant? Would you know exactly where to go to get all of your safety documents?

These questions led to the creation of eMOD, a mobile-enabled platform that helps teams improve job site safety, hold partners accountable in real-time, and shift highlight gaps of non-compliance before they become an issue.

Founded in 2017, eMOD has developed a “game-changer for field safety,” for the next generation of owners, insurance companies, general contractors, subcontractors, and tradespeople. What makes eMOD stand out from the other safety applications, is that eMOD was designed by Superintendents, Project Managers, and Safety Officers who have used their years of industry experience to create this industry-changing platform. Bobby Marshall, product expert and co-founder, knew that building this platform would fill a need in the market. Most importantly, as a development team, they knew that safety in the field is critical, and knew with their extensive industry knowledge they could build an industry-changing software. By 2019, eMOD was fully established and available on any iOS device. “Built by the field, for the field” accurately describes the inspiration and the expertise behind the app.

How exactly does eMOD work?

Safety is the #1 priority on every jobsite, which is why continuous updates to the system are necessary.  With eMOD, contractors can have all their safety documentation at their fingertips. Prior to the eMOD platform, jobsite incidents had to be reported after they happened. eMOD highlights potential hazards before the project begins and encourages safety centered conversations. This is demonstrated with the Pre-Task Plan feature that documents the daily tasks and safety procedures that need to be approved and completed prior to the project team stepping onsite for the day. eMOD has also digitized Safety Orientation and Onboarding, Toolbox Talks, Pre-Task Planning, Job Hazard Analysis, User Profiles & Certificates, Safety Audits, Incident Reporting, and a complete reporting Dashboard. The app allows for subcontractors to create and upload their own training videos. This will allow a unique experience for field workers to learn about working in the field and staying safe on the jobsite. Each user has their own profile where they can upload certificates and track orientations, eMOD will send a reminder of upcoming expirations.

We’re not just another tech company. We have been there; we have done the work. That’s why we know exactly what the technology needs to boost safety while streamlining oversight.

Says Kaitlin Frank – Field Expert

Being at the core of developing the platform, having a deep understanding of the construction industry has given the team a competitive edge of knowing what exactly is needed to create a successful construction safety application.

Our vision was to leverage technology to facilitate safety at the most impactful moment—immediately prior to work execution.

Says Rob Lynch – Construction Expert

Before eMOD, safety planning was static & opaque; now it evolves with field teams’ needs and its transparency allows cross-functional communication.

We knew we needed to bring our safety processes into the 21st century, and we were aware that building this platform could fill a need in the market. But most importantly, we as a development team knew that safety in the field is critical, and we wanted to build software that could help. We wanted to do that, and we wanted to do it well.

Says Bobby Marshall – Member of Development Team
